Virginia Grice Riley
Virginia Grice Riley, 97, of Little Rock was called home Friday, March 8, 2019. Mrs. Riley was a native of Ashley County, a resident of Little Rock for most of her life, and a former resident of Hamburg and Monticello.
Mrs. Riley was a wonderful and caring nurse, having worked in the operating room at Baptist Health Medical Center for 29 years. She was a strong, committed Christian and a member of the First Baptist Church of Hamburg. She very rarely said goodbye without adding, “I love you” or “God Bless You.”
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jefferson Grice Sr., in 1980; a son, Jefferson Grice Jr. in 2000; her parents, Bunyan and Bertha Richards Courson; five sisters, Mary Beth Woods-Sivils, Nell Davis, Carrie Hill, Modell Bunn and Peggy Echols; three brothers, R.M. “Dick” Courson, B.A. Courson and Harry Courson.
She leaves to cherish her memory three grandchildren, Nathan (Maggie) Grice of Cabot, Maci (David) Crowther of Blue Springs, Mo. and Jennifer (Todd) Hennessey of Conway; a daughter-in-law, Kathy Grice of Memphis; her special niece and caregiver, Janice Cheatham of Little Rock; seven great-grandchildren; and a host nieces nephews, extended family and friends.
The family wishes to thank Arkansas Hospice and Colonel Glenn Nursing and Rehab for their care of Mrs. Riley.
A memorial service will be held 2 p.m., Friday, March 15, 2019, in the Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Bobby Pennington officiating. Private burial will be in Pinewood Memorial Park.
Honorary pallbearers are Larry Cheatham, Paul Courson, Tommy Woods, Don Davis, Barry Davis, Alan Davis, Wayne Courson, Johnny Courson, Ricky Woods, Jimmy Carlton, Jim Walker, Steve Alsup and Tom McLemore.
Memorials may be made to Arkansas Hospice, 14 Parkstone Circle, Little Rock 72116. Arrangements are under the direction of Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home of Hamburg.
